*Elip jumped into wakefulness from his bed in the Salamandastron barracks. Today was the day that his friends from Redwall would all come to visit his home. Running towards the door to his room, and getting into his regal clothes as he ran, Elip sped down the hallway to and to the kitchens, where he would grab a quick bite, and await his friends’ arrival. Ainit, the Long Patrol’s cook, looked up drowsily from the steaming contents of his cup at the exuberant young hare.*
Hello Elip, today must be the day, wot! Yore up earlier than the flipin’ roosters themselves. I’m sure y’want a good bite t’eat before they get here.
*The chubby hare cook walked over to the cabinets where there were jars of cordial, some hot oat cakes, and some oat meal. Elip spoke as he looked out the window onto the shores.* Oh, I’m not really that hungry, I only want quick snack t’keep up me energy, wot! *After hearing Elip’s words, Ainit turned over to a basket of sweet flatbread which were cooling down on the counter tops. Picking up the basket, Ainit brought it over to the table and held one of the flatbreads out for Elip to take. Elip smiled his thanks to the chef and took the basket of flatbreads from the chef hare’s other paw.* MUNCH CHEW GULP! Yip, GULP! Only a tiny snack for strength, wot wot! CHOMP MUNCH CHOMP! *As Elip ripped into the once full basket of flatbreads, his mother, Whoolay came into the kitchens. She smiled at him and wiped crumbs from his mouth as he looked up at her.*
Well Elip, a ship just landed on shore, and guess which Abbey young ‘uns are aboard.
*Elip was stock still with excitement and shock for almost five seconds, looking out onto the shores of Salamandastron, he could see the boat in question. Out of it were coming his friends from Redwall. Nearly shouting for joy Elip jumped out of his chair, emptying the last contents of the basket into his mouth, Elip headed straight out to meet his friends.*
Just one bloomin’ minute son!
*Elip haulted in the kitchen doorway as he looked back to his mom.* Uh er, Yes mother dearest? *Whoolay crossed her arms in mock anger as she replied.*
It’s early morning and you just go t out of bed, go back to yore rooms, wash up an’ make yore bed. Then y’can go down to all of yore friends. And no questions about the subject, wot.
*With a dash of speed, Elip ran up to do as he had been bidden, which did not take long, because of the speed he was moving. The doors to the mountain fortress slammed open and a small welcoming band of hares came out. Running far ahead, was Elip, smiling wide and leaving at trail of dust behind him. As he Elip came to his friends, he hugged each one of them happily.* HAHAH! Glad t’see you all, wot wot ! Welcome to me jolly home! Hope the ride wasn’t to flipin’ hard on you, this is going to be the blinkin’ best DAY EVER, wot!
