Iolana clasped her paws together and bolted after Elip, almost on his heels. "Yes, alright," she said, catching him up and striding alongside the lanky young hare, "but don't think you can keep it a secret forever, young 'un! We can't all help with a riddle unless we know the actual, er, riddle." She switched from a mock-scolding tone of voice to one much mellower and serious. "But you're right; getting out of sight ought to be the first priority." She looked around at the others. "Shall we run again?"

"Sure" Shade said, starting to speed up. "We should get out of sight first..."
She caught up to Elip and Iolana and smiled.

Lisolette nodded, "Guess that sounds smart. We can start talkin' about dreams and things once we get passed the tree-lines, yes?" As they crossed the sight of many battles, Lissy glanced over her shoulder. It felt like somebeast was watching, but knowing that it was probably somebeast watching from the ramparts. The ottermaid quickly shook it off.

((OOC//Once we start the overarching plot, this thread might have to go, since Redwall will have been capture, and in this thread, it hasn't been. If you guys want, we could move it to the Other RP board... What say you?))

[[IMO, since Elip is gone, this thread is dead. I think it was going to be how he became the abbey warrior or something -- either way, it'd be difficult to go on without him. So I say go ahead and move it, it'll get rid of board clutter. ]]

OOC; *Elip comes bounding in dramatically, jumping and then going into a summersault before landing neatly in a heroic pose.*Did anybody call for a good-lookin’ hare, wot!! ;] BIC; *Elip crossed the ditch and went into a thick huddle of bushes, he and his friends had now entered the very edge of Mossflower! Elip gave a final glance up at the Abbey wall and sighed; it was not so much that he was feeling a sudden phase of home-sickness, but rather that he felt the odd trimmer one gets when pinpointed by unknown eyes. Elip could see, or thought he could, a pair of ears sticking over the northern ramparts. Elip couldn’t make out a face, so he figured the creature was sitting with his or her back against the wall and taking a nap under the enchanting late-morning sunlight. Dismissing the thought of being ‘watched’ from his mind, and satisfied in believing that it was the beast on the ramparts, Elip turned to his friends; remembering that he had a bit of explaining to do.* Well, I’m sure you’re all wondering about exactly what’s goin’ on, except to Lissy and Alicloud, I don’t think I’ve explained all of what’s going on. You see, this morning I had a strange dream in which I was visited by Martin the Warrior. Though the exact description of the dream gets harder and harder to recall, I did write down the riddle Martin gave me on this sheet of parchment. Jolly good thing I did, we’d probably already be lost on what to do by now if I hadn’t! *Elip held up the parchment, on which was written the riddle. There is trouble coming young one, like none my Abbey has seen before. Approaching from green acres that resemble life but gives death, they come to steal, kill, and destroy. Heed my warn, chreas for them, not them for you. For with them is a weight my Abbey cannot bear.
Out into sorMe-flows passed the gathered wood wet with C, and into the den twixt birch and oak reet, you will find the secret to the Abbey; the yek to stop the approaching evil. Again I warn avoid the poison gold, for it brings the eternal age, one day passed grown old. [/center] Elip winked, his best effort to keep the mood light.* Well then, it would seem as though we need to find the green acres that resemble life…*Elip held the parchment upside-down and then raised an eye-brow, or was Martin referring to the ’trouble’ when he said the resembles life but gives death part? *Elip looked back and forth, handing the parchment absent-mindedly to Iolana.* Either way I just realised something we forget…a MAP! *Though this was quite serious a deal, Elip had a smile hidden in plain sight on his face, and his eyes had a small gleam in them. To him this was a quite fortunate thing to forget; there was only one other source of goodbeasts where one could get detailed maps of Mossflower and the near surrounding lands…the guosim! And Elip was rather excited at a chance to meet up with them.* OOC; I say we keep RPing! Whether the thread gets moved or not. ;]

(ooc: How 'bout we move this to the Misc., then? ) BIC: Lisolette read the parchment. Unlike her friend, Elip, she wasn't in such high spirits, "Hmm...This is not good, mate. We don't have a map, but...but...but..." The ottermaid shut up. She grinned at Elip, "Are ye thinkin' wot I'm thinkin' mate? Starts with a 'Gou' ends with an 'ism'? Heehee!" She clapped her paws together with amusment.

[[Woohoo! XD ]]
Iolana listened attentively to Elip's explanation, concealed in the bushes across the path.
"A visit from Martin," she said, looking at her hare friend with wide eyes. "What a thing! I hope this doesn't mean something awful is coming."
Upon examining the parchment with Martin's words written on it, she murmured, "Oh, dear, I'm not very good at riddles and things... it doesn't make too much sense to me."
Either way I just realised something we forgot…a MAP!
The mousemaid looked up from Elip's parchment, just a tad nonplussed. "A map?" she repeated blankly. "Do you know where it is we're supposed to be going, then?" She trailed off. Elip certainly didn't look like he felt lacking a map was a problem of any sort. She glanced over to Lisolette when she spoke.
"What, what?" She asked, looking from the ottermaid to the hare, thoroughly confused by now. "What starts with a 'gou' and ends with 'ism'? Am I missing something?"

*Elip smiled* Well the answer certainly isn't back at Redwall Abbey, wot! We're headed to the jolly ol' guosim Iolana! There some o' the best's shrews a chap can ever meet, why, their arguing is just as fun to watch -an' flipping well get into- as their food is good, wot wot...wot!! I'm sure if we follow along Mossflower River we can meet up with them, once we do, we can eat, argue for a bit, and then get the map for aid with solving the riddle....right after we have a ripe ol' argument! *Elip was indeed excited for a chance to argue, though this sounded odd. You see, his mind was currently on a particular shrew who had gotten the best of him in an argument the last two times he had been with the guosim; a winning streak that Elip planned to end very soon. For all of Elip's rather stout knowledge, this particular guosim shrew could sometimes prove even stouter, already Elip was formulating a good arguing subject that he was sure to win in; he would get with the guosim, have a meal to avoid emptying the packs so soon, ask for a map, win the argument, and then head off in victory into the sunset with his head held high and his friends by his side as they went to save the Abbey!...coming back to the here-and-now, Elip looked at Iolana and Allicloud, waiting for one of them to reply to the good news.*

Shade pondered for a second.
"Well, the first stanze seems straightforward.. But the second stanza...." Shade suddenly frowned. "Isn't sorMe-flows just Mossflower mixed up?"

Iolana clapped her paws together, perking up immensely. "The Guosim!" She said excitedly. She'd heard of them, of course -- the shrews that ruled the streams of Mossflower -- but had never met one personally. And that's exactly what they were going to do! The assistant gardner could hardly wait -- here and now, this adventure was truly becoming an adventure!
Then her brain started turning and the mousemaid wilted a little. "But what if we don't find them?" She asked. "The shrews travel all the streams in Mossflower, don't they? Suppose they aren't anywhere near where we look?" As much rain as Iolana was capable of bringing over just about anything, she simply couldn't be in doubt with such a cheerful and forthright creature leading them, even if he was much younger than she.
"Well," she murmured, and, catching his eye as he seemed to come out of some sort of harish reverie, she grinned. "Well, Elip, lead on, then! You know more about Mossflower than I do."
As to solving the riddle, she kept her silence, a little embarrassed at not being very good at them -- and now, a riddle needed to be solved, a very important riddle -- and she wasn't much help. Perhaps the shrews will know, she thought, and brightened again.
"Let's get moving!" She urged again, cheerfully. "You can discuss the riddle on the way, but we're still too close to the abbey for my liking, to tell the truth... we could still be caught. Which way is the closest stream from here? The River Moss?" The river, she knew, was just up the path a ways, but she'd never been to it and couldn't say for absolute sure.

Lisolette pointed ahead, "I believes if'n we keep goin' east, then take a turn north we should find the River Moss. The Gousim might also be up in the Water Meadows, but they are a travellin' bunch." She put her paws on her hips in thought.
Shade spoke, "Hmm...That's a possibility, mate. But wot in the world does 'passed the gather wood wet with C?' I would think that C might mean 'sea' and 'gather wood' could be driftwood. In the tribe I used to live in 'till I came to Redwall gathered driftwood and dried them for fires. But..." Lissy shrugged, "That really doesn't make sense either, now that I think 'bout it."
