Here we can talk about things we remember from long ago that we liked.
Nostalgia... ahh...
Anyone remember the old cartoon the Raccoons?
It was cancelled when I was around 8.
That was ahead of it's time. It was a kids show with talking animals but had edge.
It was about three Raccoons who ran a newspaper in a forested city.
Frank, Melissa and Bert.
(Frank and Melissa are married and are expecting a baby in the future and Bert is their friend who... lives with them. No explanation except... he's their friend.)
Bert is adventurous and always has his head in the clouds, and they get into all kinds of adventures with the other characters and face problems which might have been a little dark for a kids show but was pulled off interestingly well.
Things happened like.
-A evil Aardvark "Cyril Sneer" obsessed with money and development.
-Scammers.
- A Teenage Raccoon Bert had a crush on was being peer pressured by her friends into smoking and the others were trying to stop her.
-Cyril having to get an operation but was terrified and met a sick rabbit kid in the hospital who was encouraging Cyril
saying he is there all the time and learned to be brave.
(In which Cyril gave blood to him, being a matching type to help Danny)
Actually this villain mellows throughout the series, with awesome character development. The whole show actually had good development because most of the characters evolved.
-Bert matured gradually
-Cedric "Cyril's son" being pushed around by his father learned self-confidence and the two grew closer.
But aside from that it had a really awesome ending theme.
Maybe I was too young to watch it... it was kid friendly but more around the 11-12 age group. (I may have made it sound darker than it actually was)
But my sister in law when talking about it recently called it "Intense"
I like it because it's almost realistic.
Like I said it had edge for an animal world.
(Not a fight with swords edge that we all know but a non-violent kind of coolness)
Anyone can just talk anything retro here.
Dartpaw out!
