First off....
I was just looking through my old story files.
And found a really really old Redwall Fanfiction I wrote.
(This one is actually pretty cool, I can't believe I never put this up anywhere and that I forgot about it)
I think I wasn't on the ROC at the time, I took a year off from DAB and wasn't in any clubs. (Or more likely I'm pretty sure it was when DAB went down)
I was just reading it and don't even remember any of this... so it was new to me the same as it is now new to you.
(And for the sake of being a really early story I am not editing anything in this. What I wrote is what you see... nothing will be altered. So there will be a few things that might not seem right... or confusing.)
My name is Adam Bond I am fifteen years old. It is the year 2075
I have been going through my grandfather’s old stuff in the attic and found an old poster. It was quite nice but intriguing it said Redwall friend and foe. With animals all over, ones that looked a little scary on the outside and good ones on the inside they looked cool and I went through more and found another poster Tribes of Redwall badgers.
Under that I found books. Lots of them that I’ve never even heard of!
Mossflower, the legend of luke, marlfox. They looked like they may be good books so I sat down and started reading mossflower.
After reading for a while I decided I liked it, it was a fantasy setting almost medival like lord of the rings but with animals like the wind in the willows, a concept I’ve never heard of.
I quickly went to the Datawall. A box that when you push a button a digital screen appears out of it in mid air in the middle of the room like a hologram but you can push buttons on it and move things around with your hands but anyway I went on Wikipedia (Yes that’s still around) Looked up Redwall and Brian Jacques.
The books have become classic but public domain but long forgotten… people still read it. but virtual books got really popular (Virtual books were created thirty years ago in which you put a helmet on your head and you actually virtually see what is happening as you read but it’s not like going there, actually nothing close at all… it’s like watching a movie but like you’re among them, the characters can’t see or hear you and you can’t touch them. Like the diary memory or pensieves in Harry Potter)
But the estate of Brian Jacques didn’t want his books to be all technological so they never did that to Redwall and it fell into obscurity.
(Man this is getting depressing… but don’t worry it’ll pick up.)
‘Adam are you done cleaning the attic?’ My mom called.
‘Almost!’
‘Well Hannah and I are going to the park’
I didn’t want to go… I wanted to know more about Redwall.
I took out all the books in the box in the attic and there were a lot of them.
There were over twenty books in two different hardcovers and three or four sets of softcovers.
I found a note on the bottom.
‘I love Redwall it was my life and my greatest fulfillment was collecting them all I was obsessed.’
I’m like what the heck!? What does that mean?
(I read more)
‘My love for Redwall was so great I actually created an invention that can open paths to fantasy worlds. It is quite possibly the greatest invention ever… but I didn’t patent it. Just think if I mass produced it people would be going to Redwall and Narnia and Middle-Earth and making tourist traps and spas and such… I couldn’t ever forgive myself if that happened so I spent my last years traveling other worlds. In Marlfox British hardcover page 274 I put my invention there but please do not try to mass produce it I beg you but it doesn’t matter for if someone takes it apart to find out how it works it will explode into dust. But if you want a little adventure push the button for three seconds and stop while holding the book you want to enter.’
I thought what the heck, I picked up the latest Redwall book ‘If this really works you old coot, you are a genius!’
I held it for three seconds but nothing happened so I held it for five more seconds but then realized I had to let go for it to work and I felt dizzy like I was in a really annoying elevator and suddenly everything jumped then stopped.
I was still in my house. ‘What!? I’m supposed to be in Redwall! But I went downstairs and there was no power I went and got a rootbeer from the fridge and then I noticed my arm was red and furry!
‘Ahhh!!!!!!’ I looked in the mirror I was a squirrel still wearing my clothes. I wasn’t that shocked since around 2051 the new punk fad, (After piercings and tattoos) was getting your genes altered to have cat ears or Wolf tails and claws or dog noses etc. And everyone had some sort of animal part but still it was surprising.
I opened the door and my house was in the middle of the woodlands.
I then thought where am I? But then started wondering where was I before? That jump seemed to have made me lose a bit of my memory I knew my name was Adam and this was my house with electronics but even the electronics that don’t need electricity (There’s a lot in 2075) didn’t work. I decided to get my memory back by looking at photos but only one of the people looked familiar. I then started Reading more Mossflower and when I finished I would go into the woods and explore that would be cool.
To be continued!
