Well, lots of people are, so I may as well. This is the diary of my charrie, Allocloud the Wanderer, your friendly neighbourhood wandering ferret.
March 6- Autumn.
Well, I am taking the brief rest from my wanderings to write this entry.
On my journeys, I dreamt a strange dream. I came to a clearing and there was a pair of creatures. One was a mouse, all in armour with a huge sword. By the teeth of the damned, I never saw such a weapon in my years! Knowing how woodlanders can be when they see vermin like meself, I was poised to run for it, but he just smiled at me and turned to the other creature. It was a ferret, around the same age as me, but a girl....and she was really quite pretty, at that! She told me to follow the mouse, so I did and he showed me this great huge building, all made of red stone. That's all I remember really...A strange dream indeed. When I woke up I had this madcap idea that this redstone place exists. So, I sets off to find somebeast who would know of such a place.
But what was odder was that a few days later, I was wandering as usual, and I was coming on hard times. The food was low, the area was sinister and the few creatures I met were less than kind. Then I saw this great house up in a tree, with a boat tied at a dock on a river nearby. So, I go knock on the door (I had to knock loud, since there was alot of noise inside), and this squirrel hops down and lands next to me. Eventually they lets us in, and inside is this nice little house, owned by a squirrel, but with all sorts of beasts about. There were a pair of squirrels asleep at the table, a vicious-looking shrew nearby, and a pair of vermin like myself, in the kitchen! One was a stoat, named Taffy, and a young ferret named Malum. Odd that verminous beasts such as themselves would have such kind-sounding, woodlander-ish names.
Well eventually I got into a conversation with the lot of them. I told them my story, and about that dream of mine. Turns out that redstone place does exist! It's this abbey nearby called Redwall. So I ask them further about it, and those 2 sleepy squirrels agree to take me there. But then that shrew, who was named Paprica, says that they're all going off on this treasure hunt. Not very consistent are they? I agree to go for a short time, but I'm gonna go to that Abbey. Lucky they gave me directions really, so I can go on meself. I do kinda prefer going about on my own, unless I'm in the company of a pretty, young ferret, in which case I'll gladly amble along with them, heehee!
So anyways, here I am, floating down the river on a boat, with a bunch of squirrels, a kinda grumpy-looking shrew, a stoat and a ferret....and those are just the ones that I can see from here! An odder-looking crew you could never have! We just need some madcap hare, or one of those sea-lion beasts, and the oddball crew will be complete!
Well, I'll write next time something interesting happens. Right now, I'm just waiting for them to move off...I hope they don't ask me to row, I'm an awful rower!
