Here is a cut from WIkipedias 'Criticism' section on Redwall: "Many fans are concerned about what they perceive as repetition in the series. While the early books are creative and well written, it seems that many of the later books all follow the same structure, cashing in on previously established plotlines: a rebellious youth defeats a villain that wishes to destroy/conquer Redwall; a group of warriors go to retrieve someone/something that will help someone/Redwall while vermin attack their homes as they are away; escaped slaves flee to safety where they attempt to find help, return home, and conquer their previous vermin masters. Opposition to this viewpoint claim that most literature falls into the same, repetitive cycles, and that Brian Jacques is no different than many other modern fantasy authors." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwall

'No different?' Some people have problems. I don't see any other books like his. xD But you can't exactly say he is the only one who it happens to, like they said. I think everybody just needs new ideas, new inspiration. Like a book where for once, the villain always wins. But in the next book he loses. xD For just one book, the hero stinks. THAT is a book I would read. ^_^

I don´t think the baddie winning would work... All the best chars would die! :´(
But, no, Redwall is def not the same as any other books, except somebod who copied him, like whoever wrote the Mistmantle chronicles.

Y'know, Having a Trilogy or something where an antagonist actually holds Redwall or Salamandastron for a period of time, and the protagonists have to get it back...
That would be a great book. Seriously would!
A great example of immersive writing like this would be any of R.A Salvatores work. The Dark Elf Trilogy and then on. I would be very pleased if Brian took his writing to the next level.

Of course the best characters wouldn't die, the baddies are the best. Usually I hate the heroes. Everybody loves them too much. The bad guys are so misunderstood, I would love to see one win just once. Never read any of those books. Then again I don't read much anymore. Never have any time. >

I agree, A twist on Brians usual plotline and put the baddies in the light would just be awesome. They almost had it done in Salamandastron, but yeah.
Then again, We could always improvise one our self with RP. I've been considering making a tyrant character these days.

*rubs head* I never thought of it like that...To tell you the truth, I think that worrying about Mr. Jacques's plot-lines is just a band of hooey. And I think it could be fine if the baddies won and got Redwall or something for a period of time, like for a book that would cuase even more books about how the goodies would get it back, but I seriously don't think fans should worry.

Realleh? At least you can research something intysing. We usually look up things like the thingy- table. Yargh, the name escapes me, but the one with the molecules and all that. :/
I don't think it would be good if BJ did a trilogy, I hate it when the author (*coughCPcough*) will leave the book with a cliffhanger such as 'the hero (*coughEragoncough*) polished his sword in anticipation of the morrow's battle. DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUN!

Well, a good writer would avoid doing something like that. But I see what you mean.
I dunno, I've read too many books and I guess I expect a bit too much of other authors. Thats just me though.
Argh I just need to plow through Eulalia! before I can start on the sable quean.

Bah, I can't.
Too much of a bibliophile I guess. I'm just gonna rocket through Eulalia! throughout this week. I'm a fast reader.
The first chapter of The Sable Quean was very appealing though, haha.
