*Elip felt small, tingling vibrations in his footpaws. He shuffled his toes in the dirt as he walked, the waters of Mossflower River were not very far off, they were making good time. Elip began walking backwards, looking into the faces of his friends. They seemed to be a pack of traveling geniuses, already figuring out lots of the riddle. Elip gnawed at his lip a bit before speaking.*
Well, hmmm. Wood wet with C…wood wet with sea…*Elip snapped his fingers, speaking line in a little ditty he made up as the answers came to him .* Sounds like WATER to me! What fills the oceans, the deep, the sea?
Sommat that’s wet, HAHAH! Wet as kin’ be! It splashes, it sploshes, it makes all happy!
And that’s what we’ll find, on the wood wet with Ceee!
*Though the ditty came out very smoothly, and Elip had a fair singing voice, Elip wasn’t entirely pleased with it; he would have liked to add another line or two. But, he had chosen against this as he kept a great deal of his mind hard at work on a good argument that he be sure to win against a certain guosim shrew. Elip walked for a few more paces, humming the ditty to himself. However, it was not long before a nugget of wisdom came into his head. He looked at his comrades.*
Did any of you jolly sort bring any parchment an’ quill to write with? I dare say we’ve solved a quarter of the riddle already, and it’d be a bally shame to forget it all!

Iolana followed cheerfully, though even she couldn't resist raising an eyebrow at her companions when Elip started singing a random song. It wasn't one she'd heard before - he was probably making it up as he went, she thought, biting her lip to hide a giggle.
"And that's how you intend to solve the riddle, is it, sir?" the mousemaid pointed out gently when he'd finished, the barest hint of laughter in her voice. "By inventing a song for every new line you solve?"

"Er, no, I'm afraid I haven't," Iolana admitted, slowing. She looked to her companions, a little dashed. "What about you creatures? It simply didn't occur to me to bring anything of the sort..."

*Elip smiled broadly at Iolana, and gave her a royal wink.* Oh no m'gel, not every riddle. Gotta' leave a jolly few for others dontcha' know! But it's too bad we don't have anymore parchment, that would come in hand...YEEEOUCH!
ZIP...CRACK[/b]
*Something long and sharp flew from under cover of bushes. Elip yelled as it gashed straight in and out of the outer flesh on his arm and then burried itself into a tree, splitting the bark; it was an arrow, cruedly made but efficient. Elip drew his long, nail-shaped sword; looking at where the arrow landed, Elip determined the direction it came from and turned around grimacing. Most of the white fur on his lower right arm redened in blood.
Two guosim shrews came out of hiding, one with a bow and the other armed with rapier and sling. The taller and more stouter shrew who was holding the rapier called out in a no nonesense tone.*
Are you friend or foe?!
*Elip was red of face with indignation. He growled openly at the shrews.*
Oh COME OOON! What do we flippin' well look like!!
